Teaching Philosophy
I would like to take the opportunity to share with you my
educational philosophy as we embark on the next school year together. I have
the great opportunity to work with children and be a part of their lives.
I take this responsibility seriously and consider it a great privilege! As we
all grow and learn together. These children will become
a part of my life and my heart.
The classroom I strive to establish relies heavily on the team and community I wish to build with my students, their families and the school. To make this community one where we all feel safe and included, we need to work together, have open communication and support one another. I firmly believe that this is not my classroom, it is our classroom. Accepting, accommodating and encouraging are three adjectives that I feel describe classroom community. I will accept and embrace all types of learners, accommodate the needs of all my students and encourage them in all their positive learning ambitions. The better I know my students the better I can meet their individual needs. It is important to me that we share our achievements and concerns with each other so that we are all on that same page.
As we build this community of learning, my role as an educator is to guide and direct children’s learning through engaging, interactive lessons and activities. I align all of my lessons and activities to the State core standards and objectives. My goal is create a learning environment where students will be actively involved in generating ideas by communicating what they are interested in learning. I believe children learn best when they are exposed to activities made especially for them and they’re engaged in the learning taking place. As we go through the year there will also be many forms of assessment to drive my instruction. I will share this information at parent/teacher conferences.
Our classroom revolves around the children, allowing them to make their own choices. It is a crucial lifelong skill for people to learn how to self regulate. While I am working with these students I emphasize that they are in charge of their actions and I help them build those self regulation skills. It is my hope that in our classroom community, children will feel safe enough to take educational leaps and make strides in their learning.
I am excited to start this adventure! As we work as a team to build our classroom community I know that this year will be a success!
